Specialist NHS services
Urgent IBD Clinic
I undertake an urgent IBD clinic at St Marks Hospital in Harrow, once a week on Mondays between 9 and 10 am. See below for referral criteria for this clinic. If your patient fulfils the criteria send the letter by Fax marked as URGENT IBD CLINIC to 0208 235 4093 or 0208 235 4285.
Referral Criteria for Urgent IBD Clinic
- Intestinal symptoms: Diarrhoea and rectal bleeding +/- new onset abdominal pain
- Additional symptoms: weight loss or new onset anaemia or age <30 years
- Negative stool culture and toxin assay
Faecal incontinence and constipation service:
A streamlined service is available to investigate and treat these 2 conditions. For incontinence, patients undergo tests such as an endo-anal ultrasound and Ano-rectal physiology test. A full report on appropriate management is completed. For constipation, tests including a transit study and defecating proctogram are undertaken the same day as a consultation with specialist nurse. Both services are supervised by a consultant.

Referrals with the following symptoms are accepted:
Diarrhoea, constipation, dyspepsia, rectal bleeding, pain, reflux, dyspepsia.
Consultations for the following conditions are provided:
Ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, Irritable bowel syndrome, chronic constipation, faecal incontinence, pelvic floor weakness, gastro-oesophageal disease, nutritional anaemia.
I do not take on hepato-biliary diseases or treat people below the age of 16. Patients may be invited to participate in clinical research studies.
